Instructional Program (CIP)

Engineering Mechanics. 141101

Description

If you have an interest in how things work (or how to make them work better), this program is for you. It is specifically designed for individuals with little to no formal training in the Mechanical Design disciplines. If you are a draftsman or CAD operator, this is the perfect program to move you into a full design role. While this is currently a non-accredited program it is roughly equivalent to the course material covered in an Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering Program, at a fraction of the cost and time. You will begin your studies with an Introduction to SolidWorks, a state-of-the-art CAD system, learning how to create 3D parametric geometry and becoming familiar with the basics of the Mechanical Design & Development Process. Next you will begin part 1 of a 4-part overview of Manufacturing Processes and Sciences. Progressing through the program you will alternate between more challenging CAD functions and dive deeper into how the designs you create will be made. At the end of the course is the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) Prep + the Certification Exam to show prospective employers that you are a proficient 3D Parametric Solid Modeler & Detailer. Also, through our partnership with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), you can attain the industry Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) credential which is the only certification in the manufacturing industry that is focused on basic manufacturing concepts critical for anyone who wants to be a good designer.
